Celebrity Gadgets
The top five toys in Tinsel town
This year's celebrity fashion trend is buttons, but not the kind you find on jeans or jackets. No, the newest buttons taking Hollywood by storm are those of the electronic variety.
That's right: gadgets are the new couture.
From cell phones to laptops to video cameras, stars seem to have the lowdown on the latest hi-tech. So which gizmos have the glamorati gaga?
Here are the top five celebrity gadgets:
- BlackBerry – Whether it's the 8800, the 9000, the Curve or the Pearl, there seems to be some model of BlackBerry in just about every famous hand we see. Models, musicians, actors, reality-TV stars and even political powerhouses Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have all been photographed toting this pint-sized techcessory.
- iPhone – Katharine Heigl and Jenny McCarthy are just two of the stars caught chatting on this stylish cell, and Whoopi Goldberg waved for the cameras as she stood in line like everyone else to get hers.
- MacBook – The Apple MacBook seems to be the laptop of choice among musicians, with James Blunt, Lisa Loeb and American Idol beatboxer Blake Lewis all touting their devotion. Cameras have also caught this computer in the hands of actors George Clooney and Jennifer Aniston and supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
- iPod – Apple scores again with this top-selling mp3 player. Renee Zellweger and Maria Menounos happily jog along to their playlists, while Madonna has been spotted toting hers between Pilates classes. But it isn't just a celeb workout buddy! Tobey Maguire's iPod kept him company as he played in a 2004 poker tournament, and Mila Kunis used her iPod as a traveling companion for a late-night flight from LAX.
- Flip Video / Ultra / Mino – These tiny, lightweight video cameras with built-in USB connectors have many stars, well…flipped. Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger were photographed catching their playback at an AIDS benefit, and David Arquette, Rosie O'Donnell and Paris Hilton have all flashed their Flips for the cameras.
In a town where trends seem to change with the tide, it's hard to say how much staying power any item truly has, but for now at least, these gadgets seem to have found a happy home in Hollywood. And call us optimistic, but we think they'll stay awhile.
