Pros

The Compaq Armada E500’s specs are pretty standard when compared to other laptops that were released around the same time. It has a 600MHz Pentium III processor, 128Mb of memory and a 12Gb hard drive (which is pretty small by today’s standards), along with a 4x DVD-ROM drive (which is somewhat small when compared to the latest drives). While these specs certainly won’t blow anyone away, the fact is that the Armada E500 is a reliable machine that can be purchased used or refurbished for very little money. It’s a great machine for students on a budget or businesspeople who only need to use a laptop from time to time.

There’s nothing flashy about the Armada E500. In fact, its look matches its name – it looks somewhat militaristic. If you’re looking for a colorful and shiny notebook computer, maybe you’d prefer a Macbook. One of the biggest downsides to the Armada E500 is that it’s quite heavy when compared to other laptops (it tips the scales at around 6 pounds). This can be a hindrance when carrying the E500 around. On the plus side, it’s quite thin (only 1.6 inches thick).
