Apple Offering Big Black Friday Deals

Most Apple Devices Receive Price Cut

Well, it's that time of year again: time to get in line, brave the frigid temperatures and wait for midnight openings at retailers offering popular consumer items for drastically lowered prices. But what kind of deals can we expect this year? A series of leaked advertisements reveal that Apple will be cutting the price of most of its major products, though they're not quite giving anything away, either.

Apple began generating buzz by posting a teaser page on its online store for a "one-day shopping event" taking place this Friday. Of course, we all know that this Friday is Black Friday, the shopping event most Americans recognize as the official green light for the retail holiday season.

Most of the Apple deals are fairly similar to those offered last year. It's being reported that the iPod Nano will see a price cut of $11, with the iPod Touch being reduced between $21 and $41 (the amount saved depends on the version you choose; the more storage, the bigger the savings). The iPad tablet will also see a price cut of between $41 and $61, with accessories like plastic and leather covers cut about $11 each.

The biggest cuts are coming to Apple's most expensive items, including its MacBook Air, MacBook and MacBook Pro. It's reported that all three versions will see price reductions of $101 (though this could vary depending on the retailer).

It's worth noting that all of these deals were basically the same last year.

It's also worth noting that many third-party retailers could offer better deals. Most of the above prices apply to Apple's own online or brick-and-mortar stores and there are reports that popular eletronics retailer Best Buy will up the ante. Leaked ads show Best Buy cutting the iPad 2 by $45 rather than $41 and offering a $150 rather than $101 price reduction on MacBooks as well as the iMac desktop.

There's no doubt that Apple will generate huge sales this Black Friday and afterwards. According to a recent survey, most kids put Apple devices at the top of their Christmas wish lists.

So much for G.I. Joe and Barbie.
